Appointments

University of Southern California Selects Former UNC Chancellor as President

Carol L. Folt has been selected by the USC Board of Trustees to become the school’s 12th president. Folt previously served as the first female chancellor at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She will begin her tenure at USC on July 1st.

Colorado State Announces New President

CSU has announced that current provost and VP for academic affairs at West Virginia University, Joyce McConnell, will become the institutions next president. McConnell will replace President Tony Frank on July 1st. She is the first female president in CSU’s history.

Endicott College Names New President

Steven DiSalvo has been named the next president of Endicott College. DiSalvo currently serves president of Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire. He will start on July 1st.

New Chancellor at Indiana South Bend

The board of trustees at Indiana University has named Susan Elrod as the institution’s next chancellor. Elrod currently serves as provost at UW-Whitewater. She will begin on July 1st.

Judson College Elects New Leader

Mark Tew has been named as the next president of Judson College in Alabama. Tew will succeed David Potts, who passed away last year. He will begin immediately.

Luther College Names Next President

Dr. Jenifer Ward has been selected to become Luther College’s 11th president. Ward currently serves as provost and dean at Centenary College of Louisiana. She will replace President Paula J. Carlson in July.

Permanent President Found at Murray State

Board of Regents at Murray State have named current interim president, Dr. Bob Jackson, to become the institutions permanent leader. Jackson became interim president last August. He became the 14th president on March 1st.

New President at Nassau CC

Dr. Jermaine Williams has been announced as the next president of Nassau Community College in New York. He is currently VP for student affairs at North Shore CC and will become the school’s 7th president this July.

Southwest Minnesota State Names President

Kumara Jayasuriya has been named by the board of trustees at Minnesota State to become the school’s next president. Dr. Jayasuriya is the current provost at West Virginia State. He will begin as the Minnesota State’s 10th president on July 1st.

Hibbs in as President at University of Dallas

Dr. Thomas Hibbs has been announced as the 9th president at the University of Dallas. Hibbs currently serves as dean of the Honors College at Baylor University. He will begin as president July 1st.

Chairman of Board to Become President of the University of Mobile

Upon the resignation of President Tim Smith, the board has appointed its head chairman, Fred Wilson to become the school’s interim president. A nationwide search for a new president has begun.

University of Southern Florida Announces New President

Steven Currall has been selected by the University of South Florida Board of Trustees to become the school’s next president. Currall Currently serves as the provost and VP for academic affairs at Southern Methodist University. He will begin this July.

UT El Paso with New President

The University of Texas System has appointed U.S. Airforce Secretary Heather Wilson to become the next president at the University of Texas El Paso. She will begin June 19th.

Retirements

Bethel University President to Retire

President Jay Barnes has announced his plans to retire from the university. Barnes has served as president since July of 2008. President Barnes said, “It has been a blessing and one of my life’s greatest joys to serve and be part of the Bethel community.” His last day will be June 30th 2020.

Retirement Announced at MacMurray College

After four years as president of MacMurray College, Mark Tierno has announced his plans to retire. Tierno will leave on July 1st.

University of Missouri St. Louis Chancellor to Retire

Chancellor Tom George has announced his retirement from the University of Missouri St. Louis. George has served the school for the past 16 years and said “It has been the greatest experience of my professional life to serve as chancellor of UMSL and to represent the students, faculty, staff and alumni in our efforts alongside numerous community and business organizations.”

Resignations

Staton to Resign from ECU

East Carolina University President Cecil P. Staton has announced he will step down this May. Staton has served as chancellor since 2016. Some site the school’s unimpressive athletics program, and more specifically the football program, as major reasons for the resignation.
