UNC-Chapel Hill Names Interim Chancellor
Kevin Guskiewicz has been named interim chancellor at UNC. Guskiewicz was appointed by Interim UNC-system President Bill Roper earlier this month. Guskiewicz has served as the dean of College of Arts and Sciences at UNC since 2016. He will begin his tenure as interim chancellor immediately.
University of Vermont Appoints Next President
Dr. Suresh Garimella has been named the future president at the University of Vermont. Garimella currently serves as executive VP for research and partnerships at Purdue University. He will begin his tenure on July 1st 2019.
Queens College President to Become Leader at CUNY New York
CUNY New York Board of Trustees have selected Felix Matos Rodriguez, current president of Queens College, to become the university’s next president. He will begin his tenure this May.
New President Named at Clarke University
Thom D. Chesney has been announced as the 16th president of Clarke University. Chesney was voted in unanimously by the Board of Trustees earlier this month. Currently serving as president of Brookhaven College, Chesney will begin his leadership roll at Clarke in July.
Anne Houtman Selected as New President at Earlham
Earlham College has picked Anne Houtman, current provost at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, to become the institution’s next president. Houtman will begin her tenure on July 1st.
Hobart and William Smith Colleges Names New President
Dr. Joyce P. Jacobsen has been named the 29th president of Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Jacobsen currently serves as provost at Wesleyan University. She will succeed interim President Patrick McGuire on July 1st.
Lindenwood Fires President, Appoints Interim
Michael Shonrock has been fired as president of the Lindenwood University System. Shonrock will be replaced by Interim President Art Johnson. Johnson currently serves as Chairman of the Board at Lindenwood and will begin immediately.
New President Announced at Norfolk State
Javaune Adams-Gaston has been named to the presidency at Norfolk State University. Adams-Gaston currently serves as VP for student life at Ohio State. She will begin her leadership in Virginia in mid-June.
Pepperdine Appoints Next President
Current associate dean for strategic planning and law professor at the Pepperdine Law School, James A. Gash, has been named the president of Pepperdine University. Gash will replace current president, Andrew Benton, on August 1st. He will become the school’s 8th president.
Rutgers-New Brunswick Appoints Next Chancellor
Christopher Malloy has been named the new, permanent president at Rutgers University New Brunswick. Malloy has served as interim president since this summer and previously as senior VP for research and economic development at the institution. He will begin his permanent tenure immediately.
UCF Announces Next President
Following the resignation of Dale Whittaker in mid-February, Thad Seymour Jr. has been named president of the University of Central Florida. Seymour Jr. previously served as VP for partnerships and chief innovation officer at UCF.
Eckerd College President to Retire
Donald R. Eastman III has announced that he will retire as president from Eckerd College. Eastman has served for the past 18 years and will leave in the summer of 2020. A search committee has been contracted to find his replacement.
Skidmore President Announces Retirement
Current Skidmore College President, Philip Glotzbach, has announced that he will retire in May of 2020. Glotzbach has served the school since 2003.
Libby to Retire from Stetson
Wendy Libby has announced her retirement from Stetson University in Florida. Libby has served as president of the school for the past decade. She said, “I’m very proud of the way we have been able to grow enrollment at a time that has not always been hospitable for private education, including law education.” Libby plans to serve as an advisor under the board’s request upon retirement.
University of Mobile President Resigns
President Timothy Smith informed the Board of Trustees at the University of Mobile of his resignation last month. Smith has served as president since 2016 and cited personal reasons for departing. Plans to ensure a smooth transition are currently being finalized by the Board of Trustees.
