Springfield College President Richard B. Flynn will retire on August 31, 2013
President Richard B. Flynn will retire from Springfield College on August 31, 2013 after a 14 year tenure. Plans are in effect to find a replacement for Flynn by the beginning of the fall semester.
Adelphi University names new Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success
Dr. Lauren Mounty, Dean of the School for Global and Professional Programs at Marist College, has been selected as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success at Adelphi University. Dr. Mounty will replace Angelo Proto on May 1st.
Northwest College appoints Dr. Stefani Hicswa as president
Dr. Stefani Hicswa has been named as Northwest College’s president. She will take over from Paul Prestwich who will resign on June 30th.
Dr. Patricia Long, president of Baker University plans to retire in June 2014
Baker University’s president, Dr. Patricia Long, will retire in June 2014. She has been president since 2006. The Board of Trustees will begin a search for the next president soon.
University of Southern Mississippi appoints Dr. Rodney Bennett as next president
Dr. Rodney Bennett has been named the 10th president of the University of Southern Mississippi. He will succeed Dr. Aubrey K. Lucas, the current interim president, at the end of the current semester.
Fall 2012 law school applications down 20 percent from last year
Law school applications have declined by 20 percent from last year and 38 percent from 2010. There are concerns over soaring tuition, student debt and diminishing availability of lucrative employment.
University of Southern Mississippi campus suffered tornado damage
Sunday, February 10th, the University of Mississippi had significant damage to several of its buildings on the southern part of the campus. No injuries have been reported by University police.
Florida International University’s Medical School receives full accreditation
Florida International University’s Werthiem College of Medicine now has full accreditation. The Liason Committee on Medical Education (LCME) says the college has met all of the required steps to become an accredited medical school.
President of Our Lady of the Lake University will resign March 1st
Our Lady of the Lake University President Tessa Martinez Pollack will leave office effective March 1st after more than 10 years in that post. An interim president has not yet been chosen.
Stevens-Henager College become nonprofit institution
In January, Stevens-Henager became a nonprofit institution. The change in status from for-profit to non-profit will allow the school to seek scholarship donations and accept donated equipment.
Michael Bloomberg donates $350 million to Johns Hopkins
Michael Bloomberg, mayor of New York City, has donated $350 million to his alma mater, bringing the total donations over the past four decades to $1.1 billion.
