Appointments

New President Appointed at Minnesota

The Board of Regents at Minnesota has named Joan T.A. Gabel as the University’s 17^th President. Gabel currently serves as VP for academic affairs and provost at the University of South Carolina. Gabel will become the 17^th and first female president in the university’s 167-year history.

Crafton Hills College Names Next President

Dr. Kevin Horan has been announced as the next president at Crafton Hills College in California. Dr. Horan is currently VP for instruction and student services at Los Medanos College. He will begin his new tenure on January 7^th, 2019.

East Mississippi CC Selects New President

Dr. Scott Alsobrooks has been selected to become the next president at East Mississippi Community College. Alsobrooks currently serves as vice president at Pearl River Community College. He will begin as president in January.

14^th President Selected at Eastern Nazarene

The Board of Trustees at Eastern Nazarene as announced a new president in Rev. Dr. Jack Connell. Dr. Connell Currently serves as provost and dean of faculty at Houghton College in New York. He will become the institute’s 14^th president this January.

Permanent Chancellor Announced at Elizabeth City State

Dr. Karrie G. Dixon has been named interim chancellor of Elizabeth City State University. Dr. Dixon has served as the institute’s interim chancellor since April of 2018. She began her permanent tenure this December.

Haverford College Reps New President

Dr. Wendy Raymond has been selected to become Haverford College’s 16^th president. She currently serves as vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Davidson College. She will begin her tenure on July 1^st, 2019.

Rush University Appoints Next President

Dr. Sherine Gabriel has been named Rush University’s next president. She will succeed Dr. Larry Goodman become the school’s 4^th president this February.

Temple College Appoints Next President

Trustees at Temple College have announced that Dr. Christina Ponce will become the school’s next president. Dr. Ponce replaces Glenda Barron, who retired on Dec. 31^st. She became the school’s 11^th president on January 2^nd.

Central Missouri Makes Position Permanent

Roger Best has been appointed permanent president of Central Missouri. Best has served as interim chief operating officer since January of last year. Dr. Best will become the schools 16^th president immediately.

University of Rochester Appoints New President

Current Provost at Wisconsin, Sarah Mangelsdorf, has been named the next president of the University of Rochester. Mangelsdorf succeeds Richard Feldman this February.

Wagner College Announces New President

Trustees at Wagner College have announced that Dr. Joel W. Martin will become the institution’s 19^th president. Martin previously served as provost and dean of the faculty at Franklin and Marshall College. He will begin his post on July 1^st.

Weber State Names 13^th President

Regents for the state of Utah have picked Brad Mortensen to become the new president of Weber State University. Mortensen has served Weber state as VP for advancement for past 11 years. Mortensen will replace Norm Tarbox at the helm.

Retirements

Rappahannock CC President to Retire

Elizabeth Crowther has announced her plans to retire as president of Rappahannock Community College. Crowther has served the school for the past fourteen years. She will officially retire in June 2019.

Maine System Chancellor to Retire

James H. Page will retire as the University of Maine System Chancellor at the end of this academic year. Page as served as chancellor for the last seven years and said, “it’s a good time.” A national search for a successor has begun.

William Jewell College President Retiring

President David Sallee has announced that he will retire in the summer of 2020. Sallee has served as the school’s 15^th president since 2000. The Board plans to start a national search for a replacement immediately.

Resignations

Coppin State President to Resign

Dr. Maria Thompson has announced her plans to resign at the end of the academic school year. Thompson cites health reasons and a wanting to return to her hometown as catalysts for her resignation.

University of Wisconsin Whitewater Chancellor Resigns

Chancellor Beverly Kopper has resigned from her post at UW-Whitewater. Kopper became the school’s 16^th chancellor in 2010. Kopper’s husband is alleged to have sexually harassed multiple women on campus dating back to 2015.

Appointments

College of Charleston Selects New President

Dr. Andrew Hsu has been named the next president at the College of Charleston. Hsu currently serves as provost and executive VP for academic affairs at the University of Toledo. Hsu was chosen unanimously by the board of trustees and will succeed Interim President Stephen Osborne.

New Interim President Announced for UNC School System

The UNC Board of Governors has named the CEO of UNC Health Care and dean of School of Medicine at UNC Chapel Hill, Dr. Bill Roper, to become the system’s new president. Roper takes over for Margaret Spellings, who announced her resignation in Oct, on January 1^st.

Birmingham Native to Take Over at Birmingham Southern

Daniel Coleman has been appointed to the presidency of Birmingham Southern College. Coleman previously served as the CEO of KCG Holdings before its sale in 2017. He will become the school’s 16^th president this December.

New President Appointed at Blackburn College

Dr. Julie Murray-Jensen has been named the next president of Blackburn college. She is currently serving as the VP of Enrollment and External Affairs at Klamath Community College in Oregon. Dr. Murray-Jensen will become the school’s 17^th president on January 14^th.

Interim President Made Permanent at Central Missouri

The UCM Board of Governors has named Interim President Dr. Roger Best to become the institution’s 16^th permanent president. Best said, “I am extremely honored to be a part of this tremendous institutions, and I have deep appreciation for the Board of Governors and their confidence in me.”

Next President Announced at Eastern Nazarene

Rev. Jack Connell has been named the 14^th president of Eastern Nazarene College. Connell previously served as provost and dean faculty at Houghton College in NY. Rev. Connell will begin his tenure this month.

Fresh Chancellor Announced at Indiana Wesleyan

Dr. Rodney Reed has been selected as the next chancellor at Indiana Wesleyan – Marion. Dr. Reed has served the past decade as dean of Christian formation and university chaplain at John Brown University. He will begin his tenure as Chancellor on February 1^st.

Riverside City College Names Next President

Riverside City College has appointed Dr. Gregory Anderson to become the school’s 12^th president. Anderson said, “I’m deeply grateful to the Trustees, Chancellor Isaac and the RCC team who engaged their hearts and intellect in the hiring process.” Dr. Anderson will begin as president this January.

SUNY Upstate Announces New President

Dr. Mantosh Dewan has been announced as interim president of SUNY Upstate Medical University. He replaces Dr. Danielle Laraque-Arean who is leaving this December.

Retirements

Northwood University President to Retire

President of Northwood University, Keith Petty, has announced that he will retire at the end of this academic school year. Petty has served Northwood for the past 12 years and said, “Northwood University is a special place, and I am proud to have had the opportunity to serve this vibrant community of current and future leaders.” The university’s board has convened a presidential search committee to begin in the near future.

Resignations

Mississippi President Resigns

Ole Miss Chancellor Jeffrey Vitter announced on Monday that he will resign from his post at this end of this calendar year. Vitter became chancellor of the school in January of 2016 after serving as provost and executive vice chancellor at Kansas. Some students were surprised to hear about Vitter’s resignation. Sophomore Zoe Thaw said, “I feel like he did a great job while he was here, and I don’t know why he would be stepping down.” Others (Conservative Donors) cite the university becoming exceptionally divided under a progressive Vitter—with his pushing to remove the flag of the state, encouraging the prohibition of playing Dixie at football, a debacle with the selection of a new mascot, and other issues which they believe is causing athletics, enrollment and public image of the school to suffer.

Centenary University President Resigns

Dr. David P. Haney has announced his resignation from Centenary University in New Jersey. Haney began his role as president on July 1^st and will officially leave the school on June 30^th, 2019.

Resignation Announced at Kent State

Beverly Warren, Kent State University’s 12^th President, has announced that she will not extend her presidency into 2020. Warren has been leading the school since January 2014 and will step away this upcoming June.

Appointments

Texas Tech University System Appoints Next Chancellor

The Texas Tech University System Board of Regents has named Dr. Tedd L. Mitchell to become the system’s next Chancellor. Mitchell was voted in unanimously and will serve as the system’s fifth chancellor. Dr. Mitchell said, “to become the chancellor of a university system of this caliber is the honor of a lifetime.” He will begin his permanent position immediately.

Next President Announced at Samuel Merritt University

Dr. Ching-Hua Wang has been named by SMU Board of Regents as the school’s new president. Wang is currently the provost at California State University Sacramento, and will replace Sharon Diaz in November. Diaz, after 36 years as the school’s initial president, announced her retirement earlier this year.

Wearden in as President at Methodist

Methodist University has announced that Dr. Stanley T. Wearden will become the university’s fifth president. Wearden currently serves as provost at Columbia College in Chicago. He will begin his tenure in January of 2019.

Baltimore City CC Names New President

Dr. Debra McCurdy has been announced as the next president at BCCC. McCurdy is currently the president of Rhodes State College in Ohio. She will begin as president at BCCC in July of 2019.

Brophy Announced as President at Hilbert College

Dr. Michael Brophy has been named the fourth president of Hilbert College in New York. Brophy has previously served as president at Benedictine College and Marymount California University. He will begin office as president in January.

Rush University Selects Next President

Dr. Sherine Gabriel has been named the next president of Rush University in Chicago. Gabriel is currently serving as the dean of the medical school at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She will replace Larry Goodman as president in February.

Treadwell Given Permanent Position at Keene State College

Melinda Treadwell has been selected as the permanent president of Keene State College. For the past year and a half, Treadwell has served as Keene State’s Interim President. Her three-year contract began this October.

Retirements

Maryland President Announces Retirement after Football Coach Controversy

Dr. Wallace D. Loh will retire in June of 2019 following 8 years at the helm. Loh’s administration was found to be partially responsible for an athletic department that allowed players to be abused for years. Loh said, “I have accepted that responsibility.”

South Carolina President to Retire

After ten years at the helm of the University of South Carolina, President Harris Pastides has announced his retirement. Pastides began as president in 2008 and has since added 7,000 students for enrollment around 35,000. He cited spending more time with his family as a major influence on his decision. He will step down in July of 2019.

Retirement Announced at San Francisco State

President Leslie Wong has announced that he will retire as president from San Francisco State this upcoming summer. Wong became the school’s 13^th president in 2012. Officials for the state’s school system will begin a search for a successor in the near future.

Humboldt State President Retiring

Dr. Lisa Rossbacher will retire as president of Humboldt State at the end of the 2018-2019 Academic year. Dr. Rossbacher has served the school since 2014. She said, “This was not an easy decision, as I very much enjoy being part of this campus community.”

Retirement Announced at Northwood

Northwood University President Dr. Keith Pretty will retire from the school in June of 2019. Pretty began at Northwood 12 years ago as is the school’s third president. Trustees have created a search committee for Pretty’s replacement.

Resignations

Saint Mary’s President Resigns

Jan Cervelli has resigned as president of Saint Mary’s College in Indiana. Cervelli began her tenure as president in 2016 and was the school’s twelfth president. Current Provost Nancy Nekvasil will step in as interim president while a search is started for a new president.

Resignation Announced at Michigan-Flint

Officials have announced that President Susan Borrego is due to leave at the end of the 2019 school year. Borrego has served the school as president since 2014.

Goucher College President Stepping Down

Jose Bowen has announced his plan to step down from the presidency of Goucher College at the end of this academic year. Bowen said, “I believe it is time for a change of direction for me personally, as I remain deeply passionate about my research, scholarship, music and teaching.”

Johnson Resigning from Clark Atlanta

Ronald A. Johnson is resigning from Clark Atlanta University citing personal reasons. He said, “While I am reluctant to leave this great University and its incredible students, faculty and staff I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished during this period of institutional transformation.” Robinson will leave Clark Atlanta this December.

Georgia Piedmont Appoints New President

Dr. Tavarez Holston has been approved by the Technical College System of Georgia to become Georgia Piedmont’s next president. Dr. Holston previously served as VP for academic affairs at Lanier Technical College. He replaced Dr. Jabari Simama as president on September 10^th.

Shaw University President Named to Permanent Position

Interim President of Shaw University, Dr. Paulette Dillard, has been announced as the 18^th president of the school. Dillard has served in an interim position since July of 2017. Shaw’s Board Chairmen, Joseph N. Bell said, “We believe her performance to date has demonstrated that she is committed to the transformative education process and more than qualified to lead Shaw University into this next era of excellence.”

First Female President Announced at Northern Illinois

Dr. Lisa C. Freeman has been named the 13^th president of Northern Illinois University. Freeman has been serving as interim president sent July of 2017. Dr. Freeman said, “It is my professional and personal honor to lead NIU forward.”

New President Announced at DCCC

Dr. Darrin L. Hartness has been selected by the Davidson County Community College board of trustees to become the school’s next president. Hartness previously served as superintendent for Davie County Schools. Dr. Hartness will succeed Dr. Mary E. Rittling. who is retiring in December after serving as president for the past 15 years.

Retirements

South Florida President Announces Retirement

Dr. Judy Genshaft has announced her plans to retire from the University of South Florida. Genshaft has served as president of the school since 2000, and plans to officially step-down next July. Dr. Genshaft is the longest serving president in USF’s history and said, “Thank you for your support and friendship.”

Orange Coast College President Retiring

Dr. Dennis Harkins is retiring from Orange Coast College after serving the school for the past nine years. He is expected to officially leave at the end of the Fall 2018 semester. The school is currently searching for permanent president.

GGC President to Retire at End of Academic Year

Dr. Stanley Preczewski has announced his retirement from Georgia Gwinnett College. He will leave the school at the end of the academic year this summer. Preczewski has served the school as president since 2014. A national search for a replacement is forthcoming.

Retirement Announced at CSU San Marcos

Cal State San Marcos President Karen Hayes plans to retire at the end of this academic year. Hayes has served as president since 2004, and has grown enrollment at the school from 7,000 to its current 17,000 students. The school will conduct a nationwide search for Hayes’ replacement in the near future.

Tennessee System President Retiring

Dr. Joe DiPietro has announced his retirement as president of the University of Tennessee System. DiPietro has served as president of the system since January 2011. He said, “I am very proud of all we have accomplished together, which would not have been possible without the important efforts of our talented students, staff and administrators and the steadfast support of the Board of Trustees.”

Georgetown College President to Retire

The president of Georgetown College, Dr. Michael Dwaine Greene, has announced that he will be retiring as leader of the school. Greene has served Georgetown since 2013 and will step down at the end of the 2018-19 academic year.

Resignations

Colorado State President Resigning

Tony Frank has announced that he will step down as president from Colorado State next summer. He said, “It’s now time for the next step in our university’s trajectory, and that will require the articulation of a new vision for Colorado State.” Frank has served the school as president for the past decade. He will stay on as chancellor at the school after this summer.

Texarkana President to Resign

President of Texarkana College, James Russell, has announced that he will step down as president of the school at the end of this year. Russell began as president at the school in 2011.

Central Michigan Announces New President

Dr. Robert O. Davies has been named the new president of Central Michigan University. Davies said, “I am honored, humbled and I am privileged to serve you as the 15^th president of Central Michigan University.” Davies’s first day at the helm is September 1^st.

Next President Named at Albany State

The Board of Regents has named Marion Fedrick the next leader of Albany State University. Before coming to Albany State, Fedrick served as vice chancellor for human resources at the University System of Georgia. She has been serving as interim president at Albany State for the past 8 months and will begin her permanent position immediately.

Bay State College Appoints New President

Dr. Mark DeFusco has been named president of Bay State College in Boston. Defusco previously served as senior research associate at USC’s school of education. He began his role at Bay State this August.

New President Announced at New England Conservatory

Current dean of the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, Andrea Kalyn, has been named the next president of the New England Conservatory. Kalyn has served Oberlin for the past nine years. She will begin her tenure at the New England Conservatory on January 1^st, 2019.

Johnson and Wales University System Names President of Four Campuses

Dr. Mim L. Runey has been named the next chancellor of the four Johnson and Wales University Campuses. She will become the university’s third chancellor in the past 104 years in October. Runey said, “I am honored to have been chosen to lead this institution dedicated to students’ intellectual and personal growth during this time of rapid change in higher education.”

Board Confirms Next President at Texas A&M Commerce

Dr. Mark Rudin has been approved by the Texas A&M Board of Regents to become the new president of Texas A&M University Commerce. Rudin previously served as vice president for research and economic development at Boise State University. He replaces Dr. Ray Keck, who left his post on August 31^st.

Retirements

Brenau University President Retiring

Dr. Ed L. Shrader has announced his plans to retire in 2019. Shrader has served Brenau University for the past 15 years as president, becoming the 9^th leader in 2005. Dr. Shrader said, “Serving as Brenau University’s president has been the highlight of my career.” A search for Shrader’s replacement will begin this fall.

Concordia University – St. Paul President to Retire

Dr. Thomas Ries has announced his retirement at the end of the next academic year. Ries has served as president of St. Paul since 2011. A successor will be announced later this fall.

President to Retire at Martin University

Eugene White has announced his plans to retire from Martin University next June. White has served the university since 2013. The Board plans to fined a replacement by the end of this year.

Texas Tech University System Chancellor Retiring

Mr. Robert Duncan has announced that he will retire from his post as head of the Texas Tech System effective August 31^st. Duncan has led the system for the past four years and said, “At 65, it’s time to retire, move on and begin to tackle new challenges.” No details about a successor have been released.

Retirement Announced at the University of Lynchburg

Dr. Kenneth Garren has announced his plans to retire after 17 years at Lynchburg. Garren said, “What I take the greatest pride in are the students that graduate from here.” He plans to officially leave office in 2020.

Resignations

USC President Resigns

Dr. C.L. Max Nikias has resigned from the University of Southern California. Most recently his tenure was tarnished by a series of scandals including misconduct by a longtime doctor toward female students. The USC Board said in a letter that, “something is broken and that urgent and profound actions are needed.” Nikias will continue on at USC as a tenured professor.

Resignation Announced at Benedictine University

Benedictine University President, Michael S. Brophy, has announced that he will leave the school on a year long sabbatical. Brophy has served as Benedictine’s president since 2015. Charles Gregory, former Benedictine executive vice president, will step in as interim president.

Vermont President to Step Down

Dr. Thomas Sullivan has announced that he will step down as president at the University of Vermont in June of 2019. Sullivan has led the school for the past seven years and said, “After research leave to complete a book, I look forward to joining the UVM faculty full time.”

College of Charleston Announces New President

The College of Charleston has named Steve Osborne as the school’s next president. Osborne formerly served as executive vice president of business affairs and senior adviser to previous president, Mr. Glenn McConnel, who announced his retirement in January.

New Oklahoma University President Begins Office

New Oklahoma University president Jim Gallogly has begun his tenure with a bang, laying off six top administrators. Gallogly has dropped the number of executives directly reporting to the president’s office from 25 to 17. He said, “Our inefficiencies on the Norman Campus and our overspending on the Norman campus should not fall on the shoulders of our students.” Gallogly replaced former president, Mr. David Boren, on July 1^st.

10^th President Named at Saint Leo University

Mr. Jeffrey D. Senese has been appointed the new president of Saint Leo University in Florida. Senese previously served as provost at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee. He replaces William Lennox Jr. who retired in April.

ACHS Names Next President

The American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) has named Erika Yigzaw president. Yigzaw said, “I firmly believe that education can save the world.” She began her tenure on June 15^th.

Maryland College Announces New President

Dr. Heidi M. Anderson has been named the new president of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Dr. Anderson Previously served as provost at Texas A & M Kingsville. She replaces Dr. Juliette Bell, who stepped down in early July.

Southwest Baptist Names President

Dr. Eric Turner has been selected by the SBU Board of Trustees as the 25^th president of South Baptist University in Missouri. Turner previously served as president of Black River Technical College. On August 6^th, he will replace C. Pat Taylor who is retiring after 22 years of service.

Southwestern Illinois College Appoints Next President

The Board of Trustees at Southwestern Illinois College have announced that Mr. Nick Mance will take over as the school’s next president. Mance said, “I am honored and humbled to be chosen as the next President of Southwestern Illinois College.” Mance previously served as Chairman of the SWIC Board of Trustees. He will begin his tenure immediately.

New Chancellor announced for 2019 at Washington University St. Louis

Dr. Andrew Martin has been picked to become the next president of Washington University. Martin will succeed current Chancellor, Mark Wrighton, who announced he will retire at the end of the 2019 academic school year. Dr. Martin is currently dean of literature, science and arts at Michigan.

WVU Parkersburg Names New President

West Virginia University at Parkersburg has approved the hiring of Dr. Chris Gilmer to become the campus’ next president. Dr. Gilmer previously served in the world of higher education as executive director of Alcorn State University. He began his tenure on July 2^nd.

Board Elects New President at Wheeling Jesuit

Dr. Michael P. Mihalyo Jr. has been elected by The Wheeling Jesuit Board of Trustees to become the school’s 12^th president. Dr. Mihalyo is currently the Provost and VP for Academic Affairs at Rockford University in Illinois. He replaces Dr. Debra Townsley, who is stepping down after her tenure as Interim President, on August 15^th.

University of Colorado President Announces Retirement

Mr. Bruce Benson has announced he will retire after serving as president of the University of Colorado for the past 10 years. Benson will retire next summer and said he plans to give the Board, “ample time to find a successor who can continue the tremendous and positive momentum at CU.”

Alabama Huntsville President to Retire

University of Alabama Huntsville president Dr. Robert Altenkirch has announced that he plans to retire as president of the school. Altenkirch has served the school for the past seven years. He will stay on as president until a successor is found.

Nebraska Wesleyan President Retiring

President Fred Ohles will retire from Nebraska Wesleyan University next summer. Ohles has served the school for the past decade and said, “I’m glad for the numerous significant things all of us in the Nebraska Wesleyan community have achieved together.” A search is currently underway for Wesleyan’s next president.

Minnesota President Resigning

Current president of the University of Minnesota, Dr. Eric Kaler, has announced that he will step down as president. Kaler cited the need for new leadership and his long tenure length as reasons saying, “This is an incredibly demanding job, essentially seven days a week, evenings and nights included, and as proud and confident of my contributions and ability as I am, I also know that the University will benefit from a fresh perspective.” Kaler served as president for the past 7 years.

The University of Alaska Anchorage Names Next President

Dr. Cathy Sandeen, current chancellor of the University of Wisconsin Colleges, has been named the next president of UA Anchorage. Dr. Sandeen said, “I am enormously grateful for the opportunity to lead these unique statewide institutions.” She will begin as president in Anchorage this September.

New President Named at American Jewish University

The American Jewish University has announced that Dr. Jeffrey Herbst will become the school’s next president. Herbst has previously served as president of Colgate University and vice president of academic affairs at Miami. Dr. Herbst began on July 1^st.

Cedar Crest Promotes from Within for Next President

Dr. Elizabeth Meade has been chosen by The Board of Trustees at Cedar Crest College to become the institution’s fourteenth president. Meade has be serving as interim president since last July, and previously served as Cedar Crest’s provost for 5 years. She began her tenure as President on July 1^st.

Delaware State Votes in New President

Dr. Wilma Mishoe has been selected by the Delaware State Board of Trustees to become the school’s 11^th President. Mishoe has served as interim president of the school since January, when former President Dr. Harry Williams left to run the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

Great Bay CC Selects Next President

Dr. Pelema Morrice has been selected by the New Hampshire Community College System’s Board of Trustees as the next president of Great Bay Community College. Dr. Morrice currently serves as vice provost of enrollment management at Missouri Columbia. He will begin as president this August.

New Jamestown CC President Appointed

Kennesaw State Names New President

The Board of Regents at Kennesaw State University has approved Dr. Pamela Whitten to become the school’s next president. Dr. Whitten is currently the acting provost at the University of Georgia. She will begin her new position as president at Kennesaw State on July 16^th.

Interim President Appointed at MD Eastern Shore

Dr. Mickey Burnim has been appointed interim president the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Burnim will take over for former President Juliette Bell, who announced that she will retire this summer. Burnim previously served for eleven years as president of Bowie State University.

UMass Boston Appoints New Chancellor

Dr. Katherine Newman has been appointed by the UMass Board of Trustees to become the school’s next interim chancellor. Newman replaces previous interim chancellor Barry Mills, who resigned earlier this summer.

UNC Asheville Names Next Chancellor

Dr. Nancy Cable has been appointed the next chancellor of UNC Asheville. Dr. Cable has previously served as vice president at UVA and at Davidson College. She will begin her new tenure as chancellor on August 15^th.

Boise State President Announces Retirement

Dr. Bob Kustra has announced that he will retire from Boise State University after almost 15 years as president. Kustra oversaw the expansion of undergraduate and graduate programs, rising enrollment, as well as a growing athletics program. Dr. Kustra said, “I think every organization deserves the opportunity every so many years for new leadership – people with new ideas, people who come from someplace else, people who have different agendas – and 15 years, I thought, was the perfect point where you just say it’s time.” Former provost, Dr. Martin Schimpf, has been appointed interim president of the school.

BMCC President to Retire

Dr. Antonio Perez, current president of the Borough of Manhattan Community College, has announced that he will be retiring at the end of the summer. Perez began as president at the school in 1995, increasing enrollment over 40 percent since that time.

Keuka College President Retiring

Dr. Jorge L Diaz-Herrera has announced that he will retire this July, citing family reasons. Current VP for advancement, Amy Storey, has been selected as interim president effective July 1^st.

Dr. Wayne Davis has been announced as interim president of the University of Tennessee. Davis currently serves as the Dean of Engineering and began as president on May 7th.

Roger Williams President to Retire

Dr. Donald Farish has announced that he will retire in June 2019 after his contract ends. Farish has led the Rhode Island school since 2011. A search firm will be hired by trustees to begin this summer.

UT El Paso President Announces Retirement

Current president of Texas El Paso, Dr. Diana Natalicio, has announced that she will retire after 30 years as UTEP’s president. Natalicio said, “I have concluded that this may be an appropriate time to begin bringing to a close this chapter in my higher education story, nearly all of which I have joyfully spent at UTEP.” Dr. Natalicio will officially retire upon the naming of a successor.

UConn President to Step Down

Susan Herbst has announced that she will step down as president of the University of Connecticut in July of 2019. Herbst has served the school for the past eight years. She said, “Stepping down was not an easy decision by any means.” She will continue to teach at UConn upon finding her successor.

Southern Cal President Resigns

Current USC president, C.L. Max Nikias, has resigned from his post at the institution. Reports cite numerous scandals during Nikias’ term, most recently including a longtime school gynecologist accused of sexual abuse toward female students. Nikias served as USC president for the last eight years.

The University of Louisville has named Dr. Neeli Bendapudi as the institution’s next president. Dr. Bendapudi has served as provost at Kansas University for the last seven years. She will begin her tenure as Louisville’s first female president in May.

President Named at Delaware College of Art and Design

Ms. Jean G. Dahlgren has been elected as the new president of Delware CAD. Dahlgren will replace interim president, John C. Hawkins, on August 1^st. Ms. Dahlgren currently serves as dean of undergraduate programs at Sage College of Albany.

New President Announced at Edward Waters College

Dr. Zachary Faison Jr. has been named the new president of Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fl. Faison will take over for Dr. Nat Glover, who announced he was stepping down earlier this year. Dr. Faison will become the 150-year-old HBCU’s 30^th president.

Hampshire College Appoints New President

Dr. Elizabeth Howe Bradley has been named Vassar College’s next president. She is currently a public health scholar at Yale. Bradley will start July 1^st, and take over for Interim President: Johnathan Chenette.

Queens University President Retiring

Dr. Pamela Davies, president of Queens University of Charlotte, has announced that she will retire after serving the school for the past 16 years. Davies plans to leave at the end of the next academic year upon the finding of a successor.

San Jose/Evergreen CC District Chancellor Announces Retirement

Dr. Deborah Budd plans to retire at the end of the 2018 academic year. Bud has served as chancellor of San Jose – Evergreen Community College District since 2015. An interim chancellor has been selected in Dr. Byron Clift Breland, the current president of San Jose City College.

Southern Indiana President Retiring

Dr. Linda Bennett has announced that she will retire on June 30th after nine years as president. She will be succeeded by Dr. Rondal S Rochon, current provost of USI.

Crowder College President Resigns

Dr. Jennifer Methvin has announced her resignation from Crowder College. Methvin is leaving the school to become the next chancellor of Arkansas State University, where she will begin her tenure in July.

President Announces Resignation at Hobart and William Smith

Dr. Gregory J. Vincent has announced that he will resign as president of Hobart and William Smith Colleges immediately. Vincent is being investigated for possibly plagiarize his doctorate dissertation while studying at Penn. In 2004. Dr. Pat Mcguire has been named interim president at the school until a successor is chosen.

Dr. Lynette Zelezny has been named by the California State University Board of Trustees the next president of Cal State Bakersfield. Zelezny currently serves as provost at Fresno State University. She will begin her tenure in June of this year.

Carnegie Mellon has announced that Dr. Farnam Jahanian will become the school’s 10^th president. Dr. Jahanian has served the last two years as CMU’s interim president. His appointment is immediate, with a fall inauguration scheduled.

Board Selects New President at Lincoln University

Lincoln University’s Board of Curators has selected Dr. Jerald Woolfolk to become the Missouri school’s next president. Woolfolk is currently vice president for student affairs and enrollment at SUNY Oswego. Dr. Woolfolk will begin her tenure this May.

Floyd in as President at Mars Hill University

Dr. Tony Floyd has been appointed the 22^nd president of Mars Hill University in North Carolina. Floyd Currently serves as Coker College’s Executive Vice President. He will begin on June 1^st.

Minnesota State College System Picks President

The Board of Trustees of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities will stay in-house for the systems premier position. Dr. Devinder Malhotra, current interim chancellor, has been promoted to the position permanently. Malhotra has served as interim chancellor since August of 2017 and holds a doctorate from Kansas University.

New Chancellor Named at Montana State-Billings

Dr. Dan Edelman has been selected by a search committee to become the next president of Montana state at Billings. Edelman currently serves as the VP for administration and CFO at the University of North Texas Dallas. Dr. Edelman will begin on May 7^th and replaces Interim President Larsen.

First Female President Named at Oklahoma City University

Martha Burger has been announced as the next president of Oklahoma City University. Burger will become the school’s first female president after President Robert Henry retires in June.

Dr. Caro Announced as President at Peirce College

Dr. Mary Ellen Caro will begin come the first female president and CEO of Peirce College in Philadelphia. Caro will take over for Dr. James Mergiotti who announced his plans to retire on April 16^th. She will be the school’s eighth president.

New President Announced at Slippery Rock

Current provost of Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ, Dr. William J. Behre will become the next president of Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. Behre will replace Dr. Cheryl Norton who retired as president last June. He begins his tenure in July.

Dr. Laura Trombley, current president of the Huntington Library Art Collection, has been named the next president of the University of Bridgeport. Trombley is also president emerita of Pitzer College. She will begin her role as president this summer.

Dr. Maude S. Mandel has been announced as the 18th president of Williams College in Massachusetts. Mandel currently serves as dean at Brown University. She will succeed Protik Majumder, who has served as interim president since the beginning of the year. Dr. Mandel will begin her tenure on July 1^st.

Dr. John Hitt Retiring from Central Florida, Replacement Found

Dr. John Hitt will retire from the University of Central Florida after 26 years as president. Hitt will be replaced by Dr. Dale A. Whittaker in July. Whitaker currently serves as provost at UCF.

Retirement Announced at Grand Valley State

Dr. Thomas J. Haas has announced that he will retire in June of 2019. Haas has served as Grand Valley State President for the past 12 years. He said, “It’s the right time to announce my retirement, but let me assure everyone, I’m as excited to come to work at Grand Valley as I’ve ever been.” A special meeting was immediately called by The Board of Trustees to begin a search for the school’s next president.

Pepperdine President Stepping Down

Dr. Andrew K. Benton, the longest serving president in Pepperdine’s history, has announced that he will retire at the end of the 2018-19 academic year. Benton said, “This is a significant change that, while difficult, we believe comes at just the right time – for Pepperdine, for our students, and for us.”

SUNY Purchase President Announces Retirement

Purchase College President Thomas J. Schwarz has announced that he will retire next June. Schwarz has served as president of the school for the past 17 years. Schwarz will remain on Purchase’s board after retirement.

Dr. Fred Walker has resigned as president of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Walker’s resignation will make 6 presidents in the last 11 years at the school. An interim president has been chosen in provost Dr. Michael Hannan.

Former Dean of the Ross School of Business at Michigan, Dr. Alison Davis-Blake, has been appointed president of Bentley University. Dr. Davis-Blake will begin in July.

Current provost of Smith College, Dr. Katherine A. Rowe, has been named the 28^th president at William and Mary. Rowe said, “This is an institution that was founded by a woman as well as a man. It feels right.” She will succeed President W. Taylor Reveley III, who announced his plans to retire in June, 2018.

Former Wharton Dean Announced as Cleveland State President

Cleveland State has picked Harlan M. Sands to become the school’s next president. Sands is currently vice dean and CFO of the Wharton School at Penn. He will begin his tenure in July with a salary of $455,000.

The board at Johnson College has named Ms. Katie Leonard to become president of Johnson College. Leonard currently acts as the Executive VP of Johnson. She will begin her roll as president on July 1^st.

Michigan State Appoints Former Governor in Wake of Scandal

Former Governor John Engler has been named as interim president of Michigan State University. College of Charleston President Announces Retirement

Dr. Glenn McConnell will retire as president of the College or Charleston this summer. McConnell has served at the position since 2014, when he became the schools 22^nd president. He cites health and age as the significant factor in his retirement.

Coe to Retire from COTC

Dr. Bonnie Coe has announced her retirement from Central Ohio Technical College. She began her role as president at the college in 2004, and said, “I am confident of COTC’s promising future, an excellent team is in place and…will carry COTC into its next 50 years.” Coe will step down in January of next year.

President Retiring from MCC

After more than 20 years at the helm, Dr. Scott Elliot has announced his retirement from Meridian Community College. He said, “Being part of the MCC family has been the greatest blessing of my 33 years in higher education administration.” Elliot will officially retire in June of this year.

Dr. E. Ann McGee has announced her retirement as president of Seminal State College of Florida. She is only the second president in the school’s history and has served there since 1996. Dr. McGee will leave on July 31^st.

U of Rochester President Resigns Amid Scandal

President Joel Seligman has resigned as president of the University of Rochester after the release of a report on sexual misconduct on campus. Seligman wrote in an email to campus, “It is clear to me that the best interests of the University are best served with new leadership, and a fresh perspective to focus on healing our campus and moving us forward in the spirit of cooperation and unity.” Dr. Richard Feldman has been announced as the interim president at the school and will begin immediately.

Central Michigan President Announces Retirement

President George Ross has announced he will step down as leader of Central Michigan University. Ross has served the school for the past 8 years, and will leave in July of this year.

Keck Resigns from A & M Commerce

Dr. Ray Keck announced that he will step down as president from Texas A & M University at Commerce in August. Keck has led the school since 2001.
