Penn State Names New President

Neeli Bendapudi, current president at the University of Louisville, will become the next president of Penn State University Park. Bendapudi will become the first female to lead Penn State on July 1st.

Current dean of agriculture and life sciences at NC State, Richard Linton, has been named the next president of Kansas State University. Linton will succeed Richard Myers this February.

Cal State Northridge Appoints Next President

The California State University Board has appointed Erika D. Beck to become the next president of Cal State Northridge. Beck is the current president of Cal State Channel Islands and will begin her new role on January 11th, 2021.

New President Selected at Case Western Reserve

Eric W. Kaler has been selected to become the next president at Case Western Reserve. Kaler previously served as the University of Minnesota’s President. He will replace Barbara Snyder on July 21st, 2021.

Mount Saint Vincent Appoints Next Leader

Current VP of Academic Affairs, Susan R. Burns, has been selected to become the College of Mont Saint Vincent’s sixth president. Burns will succeed Charles L. Flynn who is retiring. She will begin her tenure as president on January 1st,  2021.

Connecticut College System Provost to Become Interim President    

Jane McBride Gates has been approved by the UConn State College and University Board to become the system’s new interim president. Gates currently serves as the system’s seniot VP for academic and student affairs. She will replace Mark Ojakian who is retiring on December 31st.

Harding University Replaces President        

David Burks, Harding’s chancellor and former president, will return to an administrative role this December. Amid declining enrollment and a shortening budget Harding Trustees announced the need for a replacing current president, Bruce McLarty. A national search is currently being conducted for a long-term successor.

New President Appointed at Harford CC

Theresa Felder has been selected to become the 10th president of Harford Community College. Felder will replace Dianna Phillips, who resigned last February. She will begin her tenure on January 1st.

Hofstra Board Announces New Leadership 

Hofstra University has announced current provost for the University of Chicago, Dr. Susan Poser, as the school’s next president. Poser will become the school’s first female president and will start in August.

Law School Dean New President at Seattle University

Current Cornell Law School Dean, Eduardo M. Penalver, has been named the next president at Seattle University. Penalver will begin his new post as president on July 1st, 2021.

St. John’s Announces New President

Former president of Providence College, Rev. Brian J. Shanley, has been selected as the next president at St. John’s University. Rev. Shanley will replace Conrad Gempesaw, who will retire in June 2021.

New President at Western Illinois

The Board of Trustees at Western Illinois has voted to approve Dr. Guiyou Huang as the university’s next president. Huang currently serves as president at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He became W. Illinois’ 12th president on the first of this year (2021).

Wichita State Appoints Interim Leader

Dr. Richard Muma has been named by the Kansas Board of Regents the interim president at Wichita State. Muma is the current provost and replaced acting President Jay Golden. Golden resigned last September.

Scripps College Names New President,

Current COO and Executive VP of Pillar College, Rupert A Hayes Jr, has been named president at Scripps College. He will succeed David Schroeder.

New President at Southern Illinois

James T. Minor has been named the next chancellor at Southern Illinois University. Minor currently serves as the assistant vice chancellor and senior strategist in the office of the chancellor at Cal State University. He will become the school’s 10th chancellor on March 1st.

MIT Provost named President at RPI

Martin A Schmidt has been named the next president of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Schmidt currently serves as provost at MIT and will begin his tenure on July 1st.

Retirements

Fresno Pacific University President to Retire

Joseph Jones has announced his plans to retire this summer. Jones as served the school for the last five years.

Belmont University President Announces Retirement

Longtime Belmont University President, Bob Fisher, will retire at the end of the 2020-21 academic year. Fisher has served as Belmont’s leader for over two decades. In that time Fisher doubled the school’s undergraduate enrollment and added grad programs.

Mellon Retiring from Carlow University

President Suzanne Mellon has announced her plans to retire as leader at Carlow University. Mellon has served the school for the last eight years. She plans to officially leave on June 30th, 2021.

Clayton State President to Retire

Dr. Thomas Hynes Jr. informed students that he will retire as president from Clayton State University. Hynes has led the school since February 2010. His tenure will end on June 30th 2021.

Flagler President Announces Retirement

President Joseph G. Joyner will retire after the 2020-21 academic year. Joyner joined the school in 2017. A national search is currently underway to find Flagler’s next president.

Victor to Retire from Mercyhurst

President Michael T. Victor has announced his plans to retire from Mercyhurst University this June. Victor began his tenure as the school’s 12th president in August of 2015. A search for the next president is currently underway.

SW Oklahoma State President Retiring

President Randy Beutler has announced plans to retire from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Beutler has served as the university’s president since February of 2010.

Resignations

Texas A&M President Resigning Earlier than Expected

President Michael Young has announced his plans to leave his roll as president at Texas A&M. Young previously said he would resign in May of 2021, however he stepped down on December 31st 2020. Current chair of the engineering school, Dr. John L. Junkins, has stepped in as interim president until a replacement is found.

University of Washington Tacoma Chancellor Stepping Down

President Mark Pagano has announced plans to resign from UW Tacoma. Pagano cited family reasons as the reason for stepping down. He will serve the rest of the academic year as chancellor.

VMI Superintendent Resigns

Army Gen. J.H. Binford Peay III has resigned as president of the Virginia Military Institute after an investigation into “ongoing structural racism” at the school.  Peay has served as leader of VMI for the last 17 years.

Sewanee President to Resign

Reuben E Brigety II has announced his plan to step down as president at Sewanee. Brigety is leaving to become U.S. ambassador to South Africa.

University of Nebraska Names Prime Candidate for President

Joanne Li has been named the prime candidate for chancellor at the University of Nebraska. She will become the first woman of color to take the position (after a 30 day public vetting period).

CUNY Medgar Evers Names First African American President

Dr. Patricia Ramsey has been announced as the first woman to lead CUNY Medgar Evers in Brooklyn. She previously served as the Senior Executive Fellow at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. She will begin May 1st.

Board names Sixth President at Holy Family

The board of Trustees has announced that Dr. Anne M. Prisco will become the school’s Sixth president. She will begin in July of 2021

Pamela Whitten, current president of Kennesaw State, has been named the 19th President of Indiana University. She will begin her tenure on July 1st 2021.

Interim President Announced by Board at Oregon State

The Board of Trustees at Oregon State has voted to place Rebecca Johnson as the school’s interim president. Johnson has served as VP of OSU – Cascades since 2009. She will begin her interim presidency on May 1st and serve until a permanent president is appointed.

Interim President Selected at Iowa

Board of Regents have selected Iowa’s Associate Provost and Dean of Graduate College, John Keller, to serve as Iowa’s interim president. Current president Bruce Harreld announced his retirement in October 2020.Keller will begin on May 17.

Dr. Susan Poser Appointed President at Hofstra   

The board at Hofstra University has approved that Dr. Susan Poser will become the school’s next president. Poser currently serves as provost and vice chancellor for academics at the University of Illinois Chicago. She will become the schools first female president on August 1st.

Claremont Lincoln President Announces New Leader

Claremont Lincoln has announced that Dr. Lynn Priddy will become the school’s next president. Priddy will begin on April 1st and replace tony Digiovanni who is retiring and remaining on the board of directors.

The Board of Trustees has named Susan Snelick to become the schools next president. Snelick will begin this summer.

Oklahoma City University has announced that current president of Lamar University, Kenneth Evans, will become the school’s new president. He will become the 19th president on July 1st 2021.

Board Selects Next President at Oklahoma State

The Oklahoma State University A&M Board of regents has picked Dr. Kayse Shrum to become the schools 19th president. Shrum currently serves as president of the OSU Center for Health and Sciences in Tulsa Oklahoma. Shrum will become the school’s first female leader on July 1st.

Point Park University has approved Donald J. Green as the university’s 8th president.  Green is the current president of Georgia Highlands College in Rome. He will begin this summer after the retirement of Dr. Paul Hennigan.

The Board of Trustees at The University of Rhode Island has named Marc Parlange President of the school. Parlange currently serves as provost at Monash University in Australia and will begin in August.

Major General Cedric Wins will become the next leader of the Virginia Military Institute. Wins graduated in 1985 and began his interim leadership last year.

The Lehigh Board has announced the selection of Joseph J. Helble to become the school’s next president. Helble currently serves as the Lehigh’s provost and will begin his presidency on August 16.

Nevada State Announces New President

Regents have approved DeRionne Pollard to become Nevada State’s next president. Pollard is the current president at Montgomery College in Maryland.

Antonio D. Tillis has been announced as the next Chancellor at Rutgers – Camden. Tillis will begin his post on July 1st 2021.

Barbara Wilson has been announced as the 22nd president of the University of Iowa. Wilson currently serves as executive VP and VP for academic affairs for the University of Illinois System. She will begin her roll as president on July 15th, 2021.

Dominican President Set to Retire

Donna Carroll has announced that she will retire as president from Dominican University. Carroll has served the school for 27 years and will leave at the end of this academic year.

Howard Community College President to Retire

Dr. Kathleen Hetherington has announced that she plans leave her post as president at Howard Community College. Hetherington has served as the school’s leader since 2007 and will retire on October 1, 2021.

Southern Oregon President Retiring

Seattle President to Resign

Seattle Pacific President Daniel Martin has announced that he will resign from his position effective April 5,2021. Martin served as leader for 9 years.

Tuskegee University President Resigns

Gilbert L Rochon has announced that he is resigning from his post immediately. Dr Rochon served for six years. No reason was given for the resignation.

Marshall University President to Step Down

President Jerome A. Gilbert has announced that he will resign at the end of his term, which ends in July 2022. Gilbert said, “for a variety of personal and professional reasons, I have informed the Board of Governors that I will not seek an extension of my current contract and will be stepping down from my position effective July 15, 2022.”

Oregon State President, F. King Alexander, has announced his resignation. The resignation comes on the heels of outrage stemming from his role in the LSU sexual misconduct scandal.

Board of Trustees for the Minnesota State College System has announced that Edward Inch will become the next president of Minnesota State Mankato. Inch Currently serves as provost at Cal State East Bay. He will become the school’s 13th president on July 1st.

The Board at Misericordia University as approved the appointment of Daniel J. Myers as the school’s next president. Myers currently serves as professor and acting chair of sociology at American University. He will begin on July 1st 2021.

Dr. Jose Luis Cruz has been announced as the 17th president at Northern Arizona University. Cruz currently serves as executive vice chancellor and provost at CUNY. He will begin as president up final approvement from the Arizona Board of Regents.

Northwestern President Announces Retirement

President Morton Schapiro has announced his retirement from Northwestern University. Schapiro has led the school since 2009. He will officially retire in August of 2022.

Ferris State President to Retire

President David L. Eisler has announced his plan to retire in June of 2022. Eisler became FSU’s President in 2003 and said, “Working at Ferris State Uiversity is a privilege, and it has been my honor to serve as president.” A search for the school’s next president will begin in the next few months.

Memphis President to Step Down

University of Memphis President David Rudd has announced his plan to step down in 2022. Rudd will continue to teach at the school and said, “As a tenured member of the faculty, I have decided to return to the important work of teaching, scientific research and clinical care I set aide 15 years ago when I transitioned to senior administration.” The university’s board has called a special meeting to discuss the executive search process.

Master’s University and Seminary President, Sam Thorn, has resigned from the school. He was the university’s third president form 2019 – February of 2021.

The board at Colorado College as announced that L. Song Richards will become the school’s next president. Richards is the current dean of UC Irvine’s school of Law. She will become CC’s 14th president on July 1st and succeeds President Jill Tiefenthaler.

Thomas Stith III has been selected by the State Board of Community Colleges to lead the NC Community College System. Stith said, “My vision for the North Carolina Community College System is guided by the principle that education translates into opportunity.” He began his tenure on January 11th.

Plumb Named Next President at Saint Mary’s College

Richard Plumb will become Saint Mary’s College’s 30th president on July 1st. He currently serves as provost at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. Plumb will replace James Donahue, who announced his retirement at the end of this academic year.

Trustees have approved Kathryn A Morris to become the next president at St. Lawrence University. Morris currently serves as provost at Butler University. She will begin on July 1st 2021.

John L. Junkins, current engineer professor and director of the Hagler Institute, has been appointed interim president at Texas A&M. Junkins will serve until a presidential search is finished.

Mark Fuller has been announced the interim chancellor at UMass Dartmouth. Fuller previously served as vice chancellor for advancement at UMass Amherst. He began as interim president on January 19th.

Gregory Fowler has been appointed the new leader of University of Maryland Global Campus. Fowler previously served as president at Southern New Hampshire University’s Global Campus. He will begin on January 4th.

Dr. L. Gregory Jones has been appointed as the next president at Belmont University. Dr. Jones currently serves as the dean of Duke’s Divinity School. He will succeed Dr. Bob Fisher, who is retiring, on June 1st, 2021.

Suzanne Davis has been appointed by the Greenville University Board of Trustees to become the school’s next president. Davis has served as interim president since May of 2020, after the resignation of Ivan Filby.

Current Boston College Law Dean, Vincent Rougeau, has been selected to become the next president at Holy Cross University. Rougeau will begin his tenure on July 1st of this year.

Knox College Announces New President

Trustees at Knox College have approved the appointment of Andrew McGadney as the school’s 20th president. McGadney currently serves as the VP and dean of student advancement at Colby College. He will replace Teresa Amott, who is retiring, on July 1st.

Olivet Names Next President

Current president of Bethel University, Dr. Gregg Chenoweth, has been announced as the next president at Olivet Nazarene University. He will begin his role on June 1st, replacing Dr. John C. Bowling, who announced his retirement in August of 2019.

President Appointed at Southern University at New Orleans.

Board of supervisors at Southern University have approved the appointment of James Ammons Jr. as the school’s permanent chancellor. Ammons Jr. has served as interim chancellor since November of 2019. He will begin immediately.

St. Augustine University Names President

Dr. Christine McPhail has been appointed the 13th president of St. Augustine University in Raleigh, NC. McPhail will replace his widow, Dr. Irving McPhail, who passed away in October.

Hampton University President to Retire

William R. Harvey has announced his plans to retire in June of 2022. Harvey has served the school for more than four decades.

Georgia System Chancellor to Retire

Steve Wrigley will retire after serving as the University System of Georgia’s Chancellor since 2017. Wrigley said, “It has been a great privilege and honor to serve the citizens of Georgia.” He will leave his post on July 1st.

Chestnut Hill President Retiring

Sister Carol Jean Vale has announced her plans to retire in June of 2022. Vale has served as Chestnut Hill’s president for the past 30 years. The school will conduct a national search for her replacement.

President Tim Foster has announced his plans to retire from Colorado Mesa University on June 30th, 2021. Foster has led the school since March of 2004.

Ohio Northern University President to Retire

President Daniel Dibiasio has announced his plan to retire effective June 30th, 2022. Dibiasio has served the school since August 2011. A national search will be conducted by the board of trustees immediately.

University of Utah President Resigns

President Ruth Watkins has announced her plan to step down as president from the University of Utah. Watkins began her tenure in April of 2018 and will depart in April of 2021.

President Randolph Lowry has announced his plans to transition from president to a chancellor role. Lowry has led the school for the past 16 years. His transition will begin this summer.
